I had that same problem with mine. All I did was run straight hot water through it without the tank on and it eventually started working again. I think maybe it gets clogged in the lines or something

Michael asks…

My carpet cleaner won't suck the water back up!!! I have a Bissell pro-heat turbo....?

everything else works, but for some reason it isn't picking the water back up. And no, I am not over soaking the carpet. I am having the same problem with the upholstery attachment also. Is anyone else having this problem? Everything seems to be attached correctly. Pleassssse, any suggestions?

Carpet Cleaner Dude answers:

My problem was that the lint and other stuff that got pulled back into the system eventually clogged the small hose line that feeds into the collection tank. I ran a small wire through it, while rinsing with hot water. It cleared the lint stuff and allowed suction. Usually on Bissels that I have seen the collection bin is removable for draining the collected fluid. Although the suction opening looks large at the floor level, it all goes to a very small aperture and then into the tank. If that gets clogged, no suction. You have to work from the small end, not the large end, to make it work.
If that fails, then turn the machine on without the tank installed. There is a small opening on the actual machine that can get clogged, especially with newer carpets or those with lots of cat or dog hair on them. Hold a small piece of paper over that hole and see if it sticks, which means you are getting suction from the machine but not through the tank or hose apparatus. If it does not stick, better have it looked at, perhaps at a vacuum cleaner repair place.

Susan asks…

Anyone own a Bissell carpet cleaner in the UK????

Hi i have a Bissell pro heat upright deep carpet cleaner.....My question is does anyone know if you can buy a universal type shampoo to use in the machine and where to buy from???

Because the Bissell solution which is good dont get me wrong is quite expensive. It also states only to use Bissell cleaning fluid to avoid damaging the unit??

Any sensible advice much appreciated. :)

I have a bissell carpet cleaner, you dont have to use bissell as it wont harm the machine sometimes i use vax carpet cleaner. I think they just say that to scare you into buying theirs all the time.

Jenny asks…

Bissell Pro Heat 2x tech support?

My Bissell Pro Heat 2x carpet cleaning machine is not the Red Berends model. It is Blue. The machine is not dispensing the solution water mix. It will suction anything up and the upholstery cleaning tool dispenses the liquid but not the machine itself. I have tried removing the solution tank to remove any debris as well as the bottom of the machine, but it still is not dispensing. Does anyone have any advice?

Carpet Cleaner Dude answers:

If you hear the pump engage when you depress the trigger, the line (or filter) is blocked.
If you don't hear it, connection to the pump, or the pump itself is bad.

Mark asks…

can i use any kind of soap with my bissell pro heat?

My rug really needs 2 be cleaned and i borrowed a bissell pro heat from a friend. I was wondering if i can use any type of soap (like clothes detergent and bleach) to clean my rug? If not, can i use any brand of carpet cleaner?

Carpet Cleaner Dude answers:

ONLY use carpet cleaning solution or oxy clean mixed with water. Bissel recommends their brand of course, but I have used Rug Doctor in a Bissel before. Other types of cleaners may suds up too much and are not designed for a carpet cleaner. You could have a real mess on your hands and damage the machine.
